As we embark on our new journey to focus on teen and young adult programming, I’m overjoyed to be able to continue to partner with Joyce Swagerty!! Joyce has volunteered (a lot of) her time over this past year to work with me both to co-facilitate the Beverly Dialogue Youth Corps and help professionalize the curriculum I designed. We are now excited to hire her to help further strengthen and build out a variety of youth dialogue programs!!
In addition to her impressive skill set, what I’ve most appreciated about working with Joyce over this past year is her creativity, openness and generosity. And it seems every time we chat I learn a surprising new fact about her: she’s a poet, she loves to box, and she’s highly skilled at doing home improvements. . . Here’s the fine print:
Joyce W. Swagerty is an educator and consultant with decades of professional work experience in corporations, not-for-profit organizations, and educational institutions. As principal architect of her business enterprise, Your Fresh Horse LLC, Joyce collaborates with individuals and teams to develop learning experiences and creative business solutions that transform people and organizations. Her professional coaching and consulting partnerships are known for facilitating out-of-the-box thinking that shifts perspective and illuminates new possibilities. In previous work lives, Joyce served as a trustee, senior administrator, and middle school teacher in independent schools. Prior to her tenure as a school educator, she held strategic leadership, DEI consulting, and people management positions in the corporate sector.
Joyce is a graduate of Harvard College (A.B., cum laude). She holds a Master of Education degree from Lesley University and a Master of Arts degree in Critical and Creative Thinking from University of Massachusetts Boston. A devoted poet, Joyce uses her poetry and the group writing projects she facilitates to connect people, embrace diversity, and inspire continuous learning. She is a passionate participant in community outreach endeavors that advance the well-being of young people and our unhoused neighbors. Joyce and her husband Raymond live in Northbridge MA.
