Are you a student in 8th-12th grade who wants to make a positive impact on your community–and get paid to do so? If so, the Beverly Dialogue Youth Corps may be for you!
This unique program trains 12 youth in grades 8–12 (prioritizing those from historically marginalized communities) to design and facilitate dialogue as a tool for collaborative civic engagement. Over the seven-month program (roughly 30 hours), you will develop social-emotional, conflict transformation, and civic leadership skills. The program culminates with you co-facilitating a public dialogue on a topic of your choice. You will receive a stipend for your full participation in this program.
Heathmere takes young people seriously, and the BDYC exemplifies key tenets of Positive Youth Development. Through interactive engagement, you will learn to:
- think independently and expansively about your experiences and communities, and plan civic-minded actions that contribute to positive change
- listen generously, speak clearly and genuinely, reflect thoughtfully, and respond flexibly to diverse perspectives and lived experiences
- explore your identities and culture, and consider ways to leverage your privilege and power for the common good.
