Finding Peace through Creativity and Connection

For those who have joined us for one of our community dialogues, you know that we encourage curiosity and openness—to new perspectives, new understandings of others, and even new insights about ourselves. Instead of clinging to the belief that we already have all the answers, we practice listening. We ask questions. We explore what we might be missing.

But dialogue isn’t the only way to open ourselves up. Creativity has a powerful role to play, too.

When we engage in the act of creating, something shifts. We slow down. We tune into our senses, noticing how we experience the world through color, texture, movement, and sound. Creativity invites us out of our heads—away from the looping stories that narrow our vision—and into a more expansive space, a space of wonder. Just as dialogue helps us understand the “other,” the creative process invites us to explore our way of being in the world with fresh eyes.

That’s why we’re so excited to invite you to another Community Peace and Art Circle—this time at Temple B’nai Abraham in Beverly! Last year, in partnership with artist and educator Luba Shapiro Grenader, we hosted a couple of these gatherings, and they were deeply enriching for those who attended. Now more than ever, I feel the need to seek out beauty, awe, and connection. Do you?

Join us for a short meditation, followed by time to put color and lines on paper. You do not need to be an artist (I know I’m not!). Luba will guide us through a meditation on peace, then we’ll create images of peace, and finally, we’ll share what we experienced, created, and observed.

This is a chance to step away from the noise, get curious, and engage with yourself and others in a meaningful way. Come create with us.
